We nearly always recommend staining, rather than painting, a deck or fence. If a deck is getting too old for a transparent stain, then we recommend a full body stain. Full body stain looks like paint, but is very different in how it behaves. Stain will penetrate the wood more than paint but will not peel like paint, which saves time and money down the road.
